International Writers' Day


'In time of division between countries, International PEN is one of the rare institutions to keep a bridge constantly open' Mario Vargas Llosa
In 1986 year during the 48 congress of International PEN Club was announce The International Writers' Day. Since that times, all members of PEN celebrate this day, every year.

Additional information:
- PEN Club was founded in London in 1921 year, by Mrs. C.A. Dawson Scott initiative. The name of the organization was created from the firsts letters of the following words: Poets, Essayists and Novelists.
- The first President of the club was John Galsworthy.
- Today PEN clubs work in 130 countries all over the world.
